Girl power in the mountains

What a crazy couple of weeks and so why not follow it up with a full on weekend in the mountains! Several months ago I signed up to assist the AVON walk for breast cancer - an amazing 2 day walk, which I wanted to support in honor of my mom's recent win against cancer - so Kelli and I packed up the girls Saturday morning and headed to Frisco (just north of Breckenridge and just south of Keystone). We were co-captains of a cheer station which was at mile 23.5 for the day for the 26.2 miles (of 39 over 2 days) for the walkers.

Our Mardi Gras themed cheer station was a HUGE hit for the walkers - as we handed out beads and played fun jazz and zydeco music - after almost 7 hours though- we were exhausted! We headed to our hotel in Dillon(just 10mi down the road) where we had a sushi picnic, baths and went pretty quickly to bed. During our picnic Morgan was chowing down on miso soup - and loves tofu. She had rice and smoked salmon and cucumber salad, and when we went to give her the cooked eel pieces (don't freak out - it's totally cooked and she's had it before) - Morgan said "no - that's Nemo" - Kel just looked at me and said honey, eat the sushi, "and she said no- Nemo, that's Nemo" - we didn't want to acknowledge what she was saying because we had NO idea how she would make such a connection- but it was SOO funny.

Up early on Sunday morning and out cheering again and this time, Abby was the big celebrity - She had her picture taken at least 30 times, meanwhile, Morgan was blowing bubbles and giving high-fives.
So many walkers thanked us for bringing the kids out and said it was just what they needed to keep them going. What an inspiration - we met a 70 year old grandma, several multi-time survivors and a woman still in treatment, all walking for a cure! So truly inspiring!

After we packed up the cheer station this morning, we headed over to Breck to walk around and catch some lunch. Yum - love Empire Burger!

Right after lunch Morgan spilled her lemonade all over herself and freaked, so we had to take her shirt off - and yes, that is her walking shirtless for all of 5 minutes outside - then we quickly put her shirt back on. It was pretty warm out and super sunny, so Abby was all covered up with shades and a hat as you can see. It was a quick and crazy weekend but so fun and so worth - we look forward to crewing, cheering or participating next year!
