Wildlife Experience

Our first visit to the Wildlife Experience in Colorado - I am now a big fan of this place
- it was super easy to navigate with the kids - a lot of room for them to run around and play with the interactive exhibits, and a nice air conditioned/heated space to explore and see animals.

As you walk from the parking lot to the front doors, there are several life size bronze animal statues - the kids loved pointing at them, but then Abby found this fox and she walked right up to it and said " Ah Fox, I'm so proud of you, good job" and patted it on the back and gave it a hug - I'm not really sure what the fox did that impressed Abby so much, but it was adorable!!!

So first exhibit is a rotating one, and right now it's National Geographic's Critter Cam. The kids loved running around and watching the videos from the shark or penguin perspective. They even got to do a special craft - they got to make a shark's tooth necklace - which they all proudly wore the rest of the day.

Then we headed into the Globology exhibit which was super cool - it starts on the 2nd floor and then you gradually go down these ramps and end up back on the 1st floor - The exhibit is a combination of video screens, fake environments, and robotic animals and people that are on sensors. It's hard to explain, but the kids thought it was cool.

At the end of the exhibit there were fish tanks that the kids loved (live fish), and then the Rocky Mountain region, where there were little prairie dogs (fake), that would pop up out of their holes - the kids were fascinated with these little guys - it was really funny - then they have 2 areas for the kids to run around and play in, try on animal costumes, play with animal puppets,etc...
We ended our visit with lunch and then a run around in the grass - the kids were so tired! Abby walked the entire time, I was so proud of her for keeping up with Morgan & Nathan - thankfully a long nap at home the rest of the afternoon so mommy could watch the ND game.

I'm so glad we got a family membership to this museum - I will be visiting it a lot with the kids, and look forward to taking out of towners to check it out. (especially baby Chase when he comes in November!!!). (click on title of this blog post to visit The Wildlife Experience website).
