Abby the future gymnast

Well, our little Abby has been a little slower at walking, compared to the "national average" of walking at 15 months - the pediatrician told us that if she wasn't walking by 16 months that it would be a good idea to visit a physical therapist to see if we can help her along.

Our first visit was yesterday, and yielded a diagnosis of hyperflexibility (aka double jointed - except they don't call it that anymore). Anyways - Abby is going to be fine - her little hips, back. and shoulders are extremely loose and we need to work with her on a therapy ball and do special exercises with her to get her heading in the right direction. She will also need to get some special shoes (described as high-top style or like a ski boot) - to help create a sense of balance for her. The good news is that we caught it now and with some help, it can be corrected. If we would have waited, then it may have led to surgery down to road. Additionally, the PT determined that it was not a neurological problem, and all muscles and structures are in proper place, just need some "training".

If any of you parents out there have experience with this, drop me an email - would love to get some tips on how to best help our little Abby girl.

Oh, and of course, photos from Easter coming very soon.

(so the picture - we are cleaning out Abby's closet and found this adorable swimsuit that I think belonged to Miss Carter McGarvey - it's a little snug on Abby unfortunatly, because it's so darn cute - looking at the picture, it's hard to believe that Abby is -3% for weight!!!!)
