This past weekend, my parents were in town, and while it was still a bit cold on some of those days, they were great about hitting the road & heading to Wildlife Experience & seeing the new Frogs exhibit - Abby was overwhelmed with all the cool colors of frogs! Then on saturday we took a ride down to Castle Rock to the outlets to get new shoes. What girl doesn't want new shoes? Apparently my girls don't! What a mess it is to try to get 2 little girls to cooperate in trying on shoes! Finally we were able to pick out some shoes for the two little punks - Morgan of course spotted the pinkest, most sparkly, most shiny pair she could find - and of course they were disney princess shoes - now we can't get them off of her! I love my Abby girl - she was very happy with the good old standard mary janes from stride rite - one pair in blue, one pair in brown!
The girls were also treated to lots of great cards, care packages and presents for Valentines day! Spring wardrobes are set and now they have two prince dolls to play with all the princess ones, some great new books and toys and some yummy treats - thanks everyone!
Tuesday they went back to Miss Lori's house for the day and with the "warm up" - Lori took them to the park to feed the geese. Well, this was just about the coolest thing they have ever done, because they would NOT stop talking about it. With the weather being good again today, I decided to pack 'em up and head out early to the same park to experience this ultra cool place - and what a cool park it is (Stern Park in Littleton).
The girls were so excited to show me where to go and all about the play ground and the train they could climb on. We found a very friendly group of geese and ducks for our first feeding - that went great! Then we wandered over a bridge and found a large group of ducks that were "skating" on the ice - so we were able to feed those guys for a bit - then we wandered over by the big lake and found 1 goose that seemed hungry. Next thing we know - he is honking - calling in his buddies - and we were surrounded by about a dozen overly aggressive geese. Abby thought it was so cool, she kept saying - "here buddy, here is your bread" - and Morgan was totally freaking out that they were so close, so loud and taller than her! If we shooed them away, more would come, or they would get closer - Finally I said forget this and picked up Abby and Morgan and I started running - and the damn birds followed us!!! We made it back to our duck bridge and one lone goose was still hot on our trail. Thankfully he didn't like bridges.
So off we go to the playground, having a great time playing, then we decide to walk all the way around the lake on the path. We made it over 1/2 way and seriously, those 12 geese start walking across the frozen lake after us!!! I tell the girls we better get going and there is Abby- splashing away in a puddle - saying "no - it's OK - they are my buddies, they won't bite me" - The geese were in full pursuit at this point and Abby still would not budge - so I grabbed her up and we headed back around the lake towards our car and again, the geese were walking across the lake after us - at which point Morgan started freaking out!
ANYWAYS - we made it back to the car, with no geese interference, no geese germs, two empty bread bags and two very tired, very wet, and very happy little girls.
Looking forward to spring so we can go back to this park and take the girls on their tricycles.
